Our New Mobile Water Laboratory – Coming to a Community Near You

We are excited to share some great news from our Water Quality Department: Provo Water Company now has a Mobile Water Laboratory on the road! You may have already seen our freshly wrapped van around Providenciales, proudly carrying our new branding. While we are still in the process of completing its interior fit-out, the mobile lab is already in use and making a difference.

At this stage, our mobile lab is limited in the number of parameters it can test, but that will soon change. By the end of the year, our goal is to expand its capabilities so we can perform more water quality testing directly in the field. This means faster results, greater transparency, and the ability to respond more quickly to customer concerns.

But the lab isn’t just about science—it’s about community. Many people don’t realize that Provo Water Company has a full laboratory, so the mobile lab also serves as a visible reminder and a promotional tool. With 30 sampling stations across Providenciales to visit twice a month, the lab is always on the move, bringing awareness and reassurance directly to our neighborhoods.

Beyond routine testing, the mobile lab will also:

• Support community events by providing live demonstrations of water testing
• Respond quickly to concerns about taste, odor, or appearance of water
• Assist in emergencies such as main breaks, flooding, or other incidents

Where will you see it?  The mobile lab will be circulating across Providenciales as part of our regular sampling rotation. Once fully equipped, it will play a central role in strengthening water quality testing, supporting rapid checks, and connecting us more closely with the people we serve.
