Provo Water Company Announces High School Poster Competition Winners

As part of Provo Water Company’s 15th Annual Drinking Water Week, students from across the Turks and Caicos Islands were invited to take part in a high school poster competition focused on one important message: Our Water, Our Responsibility: Protect It. Respect It. Preserve It.

The competition encouraged young people to think creatively about water, conservation and the role we all play in protecting this vital resource for future generations. The response was excellent, with strong entries showing imagination, awareness and a real understanding of the importance of water in our daily lives.

The first-place poster by Jacy Sayao powerfully captures the theme of this year’s competition. The artwork shows two very different futures side by side. On one side, clean water, trees, fish and greenery represent what is possible when we protect and respect our environment. On the other, pollution, smoke, waste and damaged land show the consequences of neglecting our responsibility.

At the centre of the image is water itself, flowing into a glass held by a hand. This simple image reminds us that clean, safe water is something we depend on every day. Around the earth, the words “Protect. Respect. Preserve.” reinforce the message that water conservation is not only an environmental issue, but a shared responsibility.

The poster is thoughtful, bold and full of meaning. It challenges the viewer to consider the choices we make and the impact those choices can have on our islands, our communities and our future.

Provo Water Company would like to thank every student and school that participated in this year’s competition. Each entry helped continue an important conversation about water awareness, conservation and sustainability.

We also congratulate all of our winners and thank them for using their creativity to support such an important message.

Through initiatives like Drinking Water Week, Provo Water Company continues to promote safe drinking water, responsible water use and community education across Providenciales.
