JOB DESCRIPTION
The Assistant Billing Specialist supports the accurate and timely processing of water utility billing at Provo Water Company Ltd. This role assists with maintaining data integrity across the Billing System, Meter Data Management (MDM) platform, AMI system, and Work Order Management System.
The position is responsible for reviewing and validating meter data, monitoring VEE processes, identifying billing exceptions, issuing related work orders, assisting with leak credit investigations, and responding to customer billing inquiries. The Assistant Billing Specialist plays a key role in revenue assurance, customer satisfaction, and accurate consumption-based billing.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
• Review and monitor meter consumption data within the MDM and AMI systems.
• Identify accounts not receiving readings or not billed and investigate discrepancies.
• Review billing exception reports to detect missing, irregular, or estimated readings.
• Ensure meter installations, replacements, and device updates are accurately reflected in both the Work Order Management System and billing system.
• Calculate applicable leak adjustments and ensure proper documentation.
• Enter and update meter/device installations and replacements in the Work Order Management System.
• Issue work orders for meter investigations, communication failures, leak verification, and billing-related discrepancies.
• Respond to customer billing inquiries via phone, email, and walk-in visits.
• Investigate and assist in resolving billing discrepancies and usage concerns.
• Participate in the emergency after-hours phone on-call rotation.
• Respond to customer emergency calls and escalate service issues according to company protocols.
• Coordinate with operations staff to ensure timely response to urgent service matters.
• Assist in preparing billing exception and performance reports.
• Support monthly billing cycle reviews to ensure completeness and accuracy.
REQUIREMENTS
• Associate degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 1–3 years’ experience in billing, utilities, customer service, or data management preferred.
• Familiarity with AMI and MDM systems is an asset.
• Strong analytical and investigative skills.
• High attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and billing software systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage deadlines within billing cycles.
• Willingness to participate in after-hours emergency on-call rotation.
SALARY: $31,800.00 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualification.
